Straight answers
Why does the certificate expire after two years?
Because the ground truth moves. IHO S-44 gets new editions, IMCA documents get revised, and equipment practice shifts. Recertification is a short refresh exam against what changed – it exists to keep the certificate honest, not to charge you twice for the same thing.
Is this accredited by IMCA or IHO?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. The track is being mapped against IMCA and IHO competency frameworks, and the mapping document ships with the launch – alignment stated plainly, accreditation only if and when it is genuinely obtained.

People entering offshore survey work – graduates, surveyors moving offshore from land, navies leaving service – and teams whose employers need evidence of baseline competence for tenders and audits.
What does the certificate actually give me?
